A Triple Shower Day

On Wednesday, Wes and I were spoiled with showers all day long. When my students and I walked into lunch, I noticed that giant balloons were tied onto my seat at our lunch table. A big orange box filled with books took up my place at the table. My class had surprised me with a lunchtime book shower! My room mother was there with a table full of brownies and punch. Two of my sweet coworkers, Jane and Michelle, had planned this shower for me. They collected children's books from my students and they even made a really sweet Clemson themed box to hold the books. After lunch, I looked through all of the books with my students and had them to write their names in the books that they brought. My favorite books were a picture Bible and some Spanish language books. The balloons from my class shower.

After school, the faculty had a shower for me and two other ladies who are expecting. It was just perfect! This was also a book shower, and we had beautiful giant baskets filled with books on the table. The other teachers served delicious cake and other goodies. The other pregnant lady and I (one lady had already had her baby) had a great time looking through all of our books! My teammates are so great to me. They worked so hard to give us the most fantastic shower!

After church that evening, Wes's choir friends gave us a Pampers shower. They had a sweetly decorated table with a cute cake and yummy cheese straws. We had a great time chatting with everyone, and it was exciting to have so many church friends together at once. It was nice for Wes to finally get to open up some gifts. We ended up with over 1,000 diapers! Everyone did a great job with their purchases, because we received diapers of all sizes. We also got a few other treats, and we received lots of wipes as well. We were so grateful that everyone did so much for us. We are so blessed to have such an amazing church family. The sweet centerpiece on the cake table.

After this day, we won't have to buy any books or diapers for a long time!

My Pregnancy Must-Haves

1. Wes- He has taken amazing care of me. Of course, he has gone out all times of the day or night to get food for me from some random place. He has cheered me on all of the times when I absolutely could not eat. He makes suggestion after suggestion of what I could possibly eat, even when I shoot down twenty ideas in a row. He has taken care of the house completely by himself without complaining. He listens to me complain and complain about how crummy I feel. He takes me on the perfect date when I really need it, and he lets me lie around lazily when I really need that. He even lets me watch my TV shows when we are watching TV together.

2. My mom- She also has listened to me complain about my daily ailments without ever mentioning that she (1) had me without an epidural and (2) carried twins full term throughout the entire summer. She has answered all of my many questions about anything pregnancy or baby related. We've been shopping to the same baby stores many times. She's bought more things for the baby and me than I can even count. She got us a fantastic chair for the nursery, our crib bedding, maternity clothes for me, and lots of baby clothes. She even sent flowers to baby girl and me.

3. Warm baths- No kidding, I take one of these almost each day. On a bad day, it's the one thing that will get me through to nighttime. I'm sure that our water and gas bill has skyrocketed because of this. I often fall asleep in the tub (I promise I won't drown my unborn child), which is nice, since I sometimes have a difficult time falling to sleep at night.

4. How I Met Your Mother- I've not been into watching TV much lately, but I'd like to because I think it would take my mind off of things. Most long drama shows are too much for me right now, but this show can hold my attention for thirty minutes. I'm so glad that I was finally convinced to watch this show. It has to be the funniest sitcom I've ever watched. I know that I will be watching old episodes on DVD this summer when I'm hiding from the heat inside.

5. Carbonated drinks- I know, I know. I should be only drinking water. When I'm feeling queasy, though, water only makes it worse. All I want is a fizzy drink. I don't know if it's because I always got a Pepsi when I was sick as a child, or if it really makes me feel better, but I literally crave a Coke when I'm nauseous. I think it really helps, though, because on Private Practice Dr. Charlotte King told Violet that fizzy drinks help to ease nausea.

6. Frosted Cherry Pop Tarts- I haven't eaten Pop Tarts in about ten years. For some reason, I started craving these (not toasted, which I used to insist upon), and I still haven't gotten sick of them. They work really well when I need a snack in the middle of the day or the middle of the night.

7. Wes's clothes- When I get home, all I want to do is put on a T-shirt and shorts. If I put on one of my T-shirts, though, I feel like a redneck as it is pulled tightly over my belly. Wes's shirts fit so well, and his shorts are nice and comfy. I'll probably even be spotted in the Rainforest Cafe T-shirt someday soon.

Beach Trip

We got to take a "last vacation" this past weekend. Wes was in a wedding at the beach, so we decided to make a weekend of it. We left Greenville at 1:00, so we had to hurry to get to the rehearsal at 5:00. Wes pulled through, as always, and he flew us there in the Jetta. The rehearsal was really quick, and we headed to the dinner. We were lucky to sit with Wes's sweet aunt and cousin. We enjoyed catching up with them.
After the rehearsal dinner, we drove all the way from Pawleys to Myrtle Beach to play putt putt at our favorite place, Mount Atlanticus. We play putt putt there each time we go to the beach. One of my favorite things about this place is the shave ice stand that you encounter halfway through the eighteen holes. I had purposely not gone for a shave ice that week because I was so looking forward to having one at Mount Atlanticus. Imagine how disappointed this pregnant girl was when she came upon a totally empty shave ice stand. Grrr! We still had the best time playing putt putt, especially in May weather as opposed to the stifling July heat that we usually play in.
The best part of the night was sleeping in a comfy King sized bed with no alarm set for the next day. The alarm part didn't do much for me, though, because I still woke up at 8:00. After a nutritious Froot Loop breakfast, Wes took me to some little shops I wanted to go to. We ate lunch at the Fish House, where I had my first taste of shrimp since I've been pregnant.
After eating, we walked through downtown Georgetown. I've never been there before, and I thought it was really neat. We liked looking in some of the shops and walking by the water.
After the wedding, we went back to downtown Georgetown with family. We came back to the hotel fairly early, and I was lucky to get into the comfy bed for a good night's sleep.
I'm not big on taking pregnant pictures, but I know that I would be sorry one day if I had never taken any. So here I am, seven months pregnant.
