You Wouldn't Believe

I never thought the day would come when I wore a DRESS and my daughter wore a PINK dress on the SAME DAY.

Sky Top

It's a little late in the fall, but we finally took Spencer to the apple orchard. It had been too hot until recently, but fall seems to have passed us by. I had the day off from work, and we wanted to go to Sky Top on a weekday. It gets crazy there on the weekend! We were not quite prepared for how cold it would be, so we just bundled Spencer up and made a quick trip through the orchard. We realized a few miles away from the orchard that we had forgotten the stroller, so we literally just carried her around the whole time. It was nicer doing that than pushing her around. As crazy as it is, we didn't even get any apples. There weren't many left to pick near the entrance, and we didn't want to stay out in the cold with Spencer for too long. It was still nice to take her there, and we are so excited to see her toddle around and grab apples there next year!

Nice Treat!

Look at this fantastic surprise that one of my students brought me today. They are beautifully colored Halloween M&Ms layered in a cool jar. I wouldn't let Wes open it because it looks so cool. This girl is wonderful...she already brought me a stuffed Snoopy as a welcome back gift when I came back after maternity leave. A+ for her and her mother!

Hi ho, hi ho

I've now been back to work for fifteen days. I was absolutely dreading going back to work with every fiber of my being. I was honestly terrified that I wouldn't be able to do it. I would give anything to be able to stay at home at least part of the day, but this has been somewhat manageable. The first day actually went really well. It was sort of nice to put on nice clothes and to get myself out and about to somewhere besides Target. I really missed Spencer, and of course felt tremendous guilt for leaving her, but the day went by really quickly. Getting ready in the morning was very easy because Wes was staying home with her and he took care of everything. My coworkers were so good to me. One of them had written a welcome back note on my whiteboard, and one of my new team members brought me a "Welcome Back" balloon. They all brought smiles and hugs to me. I could not do this job without the wonderful women who work with me. Wes and Spencer left flowers and a card for me in the office. My mom and my sister sent flowers to me also. My brother and sister both sent encouraging text messages to me.
I left work as soon as I possibly could, and it was so nice to get to see Wes and Spencer after a long day. We've really gotten a good schedule at night, and things run pretty smoothly. I feel like I am more organized now than I was before I had a baby. I am extremely blessed to have the most amazing husband who takes perfect care of me and Spencer. He does so much more than I do, and he has to take Spencer to daycare and pick her up almost everyday. He has made this so much easier on me.
I am amazed at God's hand constantly over me. Only God could have made this transition as smooth as it has been. I imagined that I would be sobbing every day that I went to work. There is no way that I could be this much at peace with it on my own. I am so grateful that he has held this burden for me. I still have days when I do break down because I missed my baby or because I'm exhausted, but there are also days when I actually see positive benefits of working. That in itself is a miracle!

Two month appointment

I'm only a month late blogging about Spencer's two month appointment. Things went really well at this appointment, even the shots. We rescheduled our appointment just so that we could get in with a doctor that we really like, but we didn't realize that Wes would be out of town that day. We didn't want to reschedule, so my mom took time off from work just to come with me. Dr. Stoeber said that everything looked great with Spencer right now. He was fabulous about taking lots of time to answer all of my silly questions. Spencer weighted 11 pounds, 2 ounces and is in the 55th percentile. She is 24 inches long, which puts her in the 95th percentile. She is in the 75th percentile for head circumference. That is no surprise considering the size of her parents' noggins.
I had so much fun watching Spencer stare at herself in the mirror while she was on the doctor's table. She seriously could have done this for hours. The three shots that she received weren't too bad, and she wasn't very cranky afterwards. That nurse was so fast sticking those needles in her legs! Mom took us out to eat at Brick Street after the appointment to celebrate a successful well checkup.
