I think that the honeymoon is over. The transition back to work went relatively smoothly for me, and I was so relieved. Then about two weeks ago, things got a little crazy. Nothing in particular happened, but Wes's work schedule has been a little tough. He always has to work more hours during this time of year, and it has made for some very long, tiring days for us. We haven't been able to relax much, and I haven't been able to run my regular errands like I usually can. Adding to the crazy daytime schedule is the fact that Spencer no longer enjoyed sleeping through the night. I was getting really drained physically and emotionally, and starting to think that things would never get better. I was very sluggish, and my outlook was quite poor.
God always seems to know just when I need a little pick-me-up. Just when I think that things are so yucky, He reminds me that he is Lord over ALL areas of my life. Wes and I received some great nighttime relief when Spencer slept through the night four nights in a row. It is the best feeling to wake up in the morning and realize that she slept all night long!
I felt like God also directly answered one of my prayers when He took care of a situation at work. I had a parent who was angry at me for disciplining her child, and we had a conference set for last Monday. I knew that it would be uncomfortable, and it just ate at me for several days. I really did pray that the parents would cancel the meeting, but I also knew that that would never happen. God answered my prayers when those parents never even showed up.
As small as these things are, they reminded me that I can always go to God with my prayers, even when I think that they may be impossible. I've been trying to pray more specifically to God, but it is still often uncomfortable to me. I'm so thankful for this reminder that God wants to hear all sorts of prayers from me.

Boo!

We have been so excited about Halloween with Spencer since I first became pregnant. We couldn't wait for an excuse to go trick-or-treating. Wes was hoping that we would get lots of candy since we have a daughter with no teeth. We didn't take Spencer around the neighborhood, because I was too embarrassed to take candy for ourselves. We took our little monkey to see my grandmother. I am so glad that we were able to do this. I love watching my grandmother interact with Spencer. It is such a precious sight.
One of the best pictures everWe took Spencer to my parents' house, and Spencer came away with a treat that is better than candy. Her grandparents gave her a cute Snoopystein that plays music. Spencer enjoys watching Woodstock jump out of the candy bag.
Spencer hanging out with the pumpkins at her grandparents' houseWe headed to Spencer's other grandparents' house, and she got another great Halloween treat. They gave Spencer a cute stuffed duck that plays different songs. She loves it! We got a special treat when Spencer's big friends, Tori and Zach, stopped by to trick-or-treat. They were precious, and she loved watching them play around. She can't wait to hang out with them more.

Kelly Time!

We had a fun night last week when Kelly came to visit. We haven't had a good chance to see her lately, so it was great to spend a few hours with our sweet cousin. We filled up on chicken pot pie and had a relaxing dinner. Kelly was so sweet to bring a box of yummy cupcakes for us from Strossner's. We love our Kelly!
Spencer wanted to try one of Kelly's cute cupcakes. She got her hands all dirty on the spider cupcake.
